Let the Shearing Begin!

Wow, looking at my blog, I notice I haven't been writing very much, have I? It's been a whirl wind of activities around here. We have had numerous farm visits, activities, and well, just life going on around here. We are awaiting two alpaca cria to be born either late next month or early May. I'll keep you posted on that one (ha ha...get it?).

We have set our 2011 shearing date for Saturday, April 2nd, beginning at 9:00 am. Many of you over the year have indicated you would like to attend / help us with this. We have fourteen animals to shear and another five animals for a farm down the road. So, it's going to be busy, busy, busy. As you know, Tim does the shearing for our ranch. However, he needs lots of help. There are the people who halter and lead the animals to the shearing area, someone to help with the rope system, a "head" person (to hold the alpacas head during the shearing), a person to help "scoop" away the fleece as it is being shorn off of the animal, a person to bag the fleece, and OF COURSE, a photographer (don't everyone jump on that one, ok). Lastly, we need someone to sweep or blow the area clean between animal shearings. Are you up for the task? If so, let us know! We can always use some help!

We hope to hear from you soon!
